Chris Chope welcomes the decision of the Government to agree to raise the mandatory retirement age for Judges from seventy to seventy five. This was the subject of a Private Member’s Bill, tabled for the current session of Parliament.
Chris Chope commented, ‘Although my Private Member’s Bill was unable to be debated because of Coronavirus restrictions on the number of available days for Private Members’ Bills, I am delighted that the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for justice has agreed to make the change for which I have been campaigning’.
